New favourite post processing thing

My new favourite post processing thing is the circular fade to black, done with a layer containing a circular gradient from transparent to black.

In other news, I've finally got round to putting the cocktail picutres on the wall above the bed. They look great. Interestingly, when printed and mounted, the white one looks better than the black one, even though I was more impressed (and more fun taking) the dark one. So Mrs G has commissioned me to do another light one :)

New toy: a circular polarising filter!

My parents bought me a circular polarising filter for my birthday. So early (ish) on Sunday morning I went up the top of Dover's Hill, near Chipping Campden, and tried it out. The sky was beautifully blue. It was very cold. But I'm rather happy with the results.

These photos are all unedited:

This photo has had a slight saturation increase on the ground and bench.

Cocktail glasses, picture 2

Yesterday I attempted version 2 of my cocktail glasses collection.

Using the sun streaming though the living room window as my side lighting, I set up my reflector (white card), set the zoom lens to macro mode and snapped away. This is the best of the pictures, with a bit of Photoshopping afterwards:

Well it's been a while...

It's been a while since the last post. Haven't really had much to say. I was going to post the ongoing saga of the MFI kitchen installation, but the whole experience has been too painful...

So I'm going back to the original point of this blog, photographs.

Here is todays picture. Taken in my "studio" (on a coffee table in the bedroom) using darkness, long exposure (and my new remote control!) and a torch. And then Photoshop to combine and colour.

The glasses were my birthday present from Jodie and Richard (and Paul I think).

I plan to take another one of them in light, probably filled with suitably bright coloured cocktails. Then, if they turn out OK, frame them up and stick them on the wall!
